Summer Discovery Camp Instructor - June 11th - August 12th - Part/Full-Time (closed)

We’re seeking crew members for our Swashbuckling Summer of Science!

Sci-Tech Discovery Center is now hiring enthusiastic staff for our Summer Discovery Camps! The museum offers week-long, full-day and half-day hands-on camps for children in grades kindergarten through 6^th grade.  Camps start June 11 and run through the week of August 13. Discovery Camps are held at Sci-Tech Discovery Center in Frisco.

We’re currently seeking Discovery Camp instructors. This position leads hands-on informal activities for campers in the areas of science, technology, engineering and math.  Instructors work closely with the Summer Discovery Camp Director to prepare and present pre-developed material to groups of up to 20 children. Successful candidates will have the ability to communicate an enthusiasm for science, math and technology.  Previous experience in a formal or informal education setting is desired. Instructors must have a high school degree/GED and previous applicable work experience. Salary starts at $11/hour.

All positions are temporary positions working for the summer an average for 30-40 hours per week. The camp day runs from 9:00 am – 4:00 pm, which includes pre and post care times.  Staff is expected to arrive by 8:30 am and stay afterwards for clean up.

Discovery Presenter - On Call as Needed (open)

Join Sci-Tech Discovery Center as we stretch minds across North Texas!  Discovery Presenters deliver outreach programs to a variety of audiences including scout groups, schools, camps and home school groups.  Discovery Presenters must be creative, energetic, and enjoy being in front of an audience.  This position is an on-call position and hours/locations will vary. Personal transportation will be required. Candidates must also be able to stand up for up to 4 hours at a time and lift 15lbs.  A high school diploma/GED is required and a background in education, drama and/or science is preferred. Position starts at $15/hr.

Visitor Experience Associate - part-time (open)

The Visitor Experience Associate is responsible for processing admittance of visitors to the museum,  processing Explore Store sales and promoting Sci-Tech Discovery Center memberships. Must be able to operate a computer, work with a cash register and effectively balance a cash drawer. Candidates must have excellent communication skills and a welcoming personality.  A high school diploma or GED and similar experience required.  Position starts at $8/hr.

Party Educators - part-time (open)

Sci-Tech Discovery Center offers themed party packages for young children. The Party Educators will assist party hosts with set-up and clean up, prepare materials and lead the parties, including delivering 30-45 minute science based programs.

We are looking for people experienced with working with children, excellent customer service and communication skills and willingness to handle chemicals (training will be provided).

Candidates must also be able to stand for up to 4 hours at a time and lift 15 lbs. A background in education and/or science is preferred. This position is adjunct, approximately 4-16 hours per week, primarily on weekends (9:30am-6pm Saturdays and 11:30am-6pm on Sundays). Candidates must be able to work at least three weekends per month. Position starts at $8/hour with tips.

Weekday Staff - part-time (closed)

Sci-Tech Discovery Center needs energetic staff members to help us during the weekdays.  Weekday staff will be in charge of guest relations, facilitating field trips and running stage shows. 

We are looking for people experienced with working with children, excellent customer service/communication skills and willingness to handle to handle chemicals (training will be provided).  Candidates must also be able to stand up for up to 4 hours at a time and lift 15lbs.  A high school diploma/GED is required and a background in education and/or science is preferred.

This is a part-time position that is approximately 10-25 hours per week.  We need people who are available from 9:00am-5:00pm two to four days a week (Tuesday-Friday).  Position starts at $10/hr.
