Mind Stretching Fun for Homeschoolers
Sci-Tech Discovery Center is offering science classes to home school students looking to supplement their science curriculum. Get ready for some hands-on exploration and discovery on your path to mind stretching fun!
Classes are offered every other Wednesday, beginning March 10th from 9:30-10:45am. Sign up for the entire series, and receive a $20 credit with Frisco Fun!
Anyone can register! Simply visit Frisco Athletic Center to register online. Unless specified, each class is $20 for members of the Frisco Athletic Center and $25 for nonmembers. Registration for spring classes will open at the end of January.
March 10 - Pirate Science
Ahoy there! Pirates sure have to know a lot to sail the seven seas. Join us as we explore boat design, sail shape, and how things float and sink.
March 24 - Science As Art
Join us as we explore color and light while we make rainbows in a test tube, use LED lights to create art, make kaleidoscopes, and explore the sheen in a butterfly's wings to create iridescent art of your own
April 7 - Assembly Science
Ever wonder how different rocks and minerals get assembled? Join us as we examine rocks and minerals, then use molecular building kits to develop rocks and minerals of your own!
April 21 - The Science of Aviation
Join us for some mind-stretching fun as we explore the science of flight. Get ready to make tornadoes, crush everyday items with air pressure, make toilet paper fly, and find out why the Wright Brothers were successful where others failed. We'll end the class by making your very own hovercrafts. You'll never think about air the same way again.
May 5 - Gross Science
How does your food get digested? Why do you toot? Learn about your body and how to make realistic snot and scabs in this exciting class!
May 19 - Solar Science
Break out your shades and discover the role of the sun in color, shadows, solar energy
and more! Sample demonstrations and activities: color discs, shadow freezing, solar panels, solar beads and sunscreen
