Mind-Stretching Fun!® That’s what the future of Sci-Tech Discovery Center will be for the more than 100,000 visitors expected each year. The Center has a clear mission to provide a dynamic, interactive experience that inspires people of all ages and backgrounds to embrace discovery and innovation through the exploration of math, science and technology.

Responding to community demand for a cultural and educational destination, Sci-Tech Discovery Center, Inc. was established as a 501(c)(3) non-profit, educational organization in 2004 after the concept was studied and the vision shared with the community as a multi-year initiative of the Junior League of Plano. The Center has studied best practices research through its membership in the Association of Children’s Museums and the Association of Science-Technology Centers. And with the help of leading museum consultants, Economics Research Associates, The Haizlip Firm and Jennifer Stancil, a concept has been defined and a plan formed.

To validate the plan to establish, build and endow a permanent, high-quality science and technology museum in Collin County, Sci-Tech hosted preview exhibits in the summers of 2004 and 2005 to demonstrate that the residents of our area would embrace such a facility. Over 25,000 voted "yes" with their feet by visiting the previews to enjoy and learn about the topics of medical technology and engineering.

  • Include 42,000 square feet of exhibits and programs
  • Integrate 6 to 15 acres of land
