Can't Live Without 'Em
The subject for one of
Sci-Tech
Discovery
Center
’s preview exhibits, engineering gets a
special tribute this week. February 18-24, 2007 has been named
National Engineering Week. To find out more about the week dedicated

Sci-Tech
Discovery
Center'
s
Board of Directors features some members who chose engineering for
exciting and creative careers. Mark Reid, President and CEO of IDEA
Construction, says that his desire to build and create led him to study
industrial engineering in college. In addition to leading a
construction business Mark serves on
Texas
Tech
University’s Industrial
Engineering Advisory Board.
Dave Woollums, Vice President of
Engineering for Emerson Process Management, was fascinated as a child
about how things worked. His hobby of taking things apart and putting
them back together led him to a career of what he calls practical
science. To all aspiring engineers Dave says, “There’s nothing better
than creating things that never before existed that can benefit people
on a daily basis."
Mind Stretching Fun® Awards
To
acknowledge the creativity and enjoyment that inspires and accompanies
the work of area science fair teams, two Sci-Tech Discovery Center

Junior and Senior Team Physical Science groupings will be named
Sci-Tech winners at the Regional Science Fair on March 24, 2007 at
Fair
Park. Each team will receive a cash award.
Pi in the Face
March 14th is Pi Day (3.14), and again this year Sci-Tech
Discovery
Center
will provide activity cards to 6th grade math programs in
Plano,
