Cool Careers in Math and Science for Girls
This camp, for girls only, explores how women are making a difference in math, science and engineering fields across our community. Each day we'll explore a different subject area to see how STEM skills are used in fields such as veterinary medicine, fashion design, game design, engineering and meterology. This camp will include individualized experiences that develop an understanding of STEM subjects and inspire interest in some cool career opportunities
Creature Feature
Campers this week will be learning all about animals! They will explore the science of why different creatures are unique and why they look the way they do. Campers will create a snake, explore the benefits of turtle shells, explore the world of fish, and many more fantastic animals we love. They may even get up close and personal with some animal visitors this week!
Get Your Game On
Ready, set, go! Experiment with the combination of science and sports in this new camp. We'll cover the basics like gravity, energy transfers, and friction and put some theories into action. You'll design and build your own catapult to explore trajectory, test your balancing abilities, and try out some inertia activities. Whether you are a beginning athlete or an expert, come discover the fun, exciting science behind sports.
Invention Convention
Campers will be exploring their engineering skills with various building and design challenges throughout the week. Whether it’s rollercoasters, cars, bridges, catapults, or rockets, campers will be challenged to design and test their creations. The campers will show off their work to parents and Sci-Tech visitors on the last day of camp!
Mad Scientist Lab
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be a scientist and get to do fun science things all the time? Well this is the camp for you! From explosions, chemicals, flying objects, slime, and more, we’ll have a ton of fun discovering, testing, and building exciting experiments to delight campers of any age!
Ninja School
Campers will be learning the art of being a ninja with a walk through our ninja obstacle course, learning about our senses, and practicing some ninja basics like balance and stealth. Campers will learn some moves from a martial arts expert too!
Pirate Science
Ahoy Mateys! Sail this way to a week-long pirate adventure! Campers will be learning how to navigate the stars, building models of boats and testing their designs, creating and reading maps, and of course set off on an adventure to find Sci-Tech’s secret hidden treasure!
Science or Magic?
That is the question! Campers will love exploring the science behind many of their favorite magic tricks and maybe learn a few new tricks of their own! From optical illusions, slight of hand, and basic chemistry, campers will be shocked at the science we can thank for some of the best magic tricks around!
Sci-Tech Sleuths
There’s a mystery brewing at Sci-Tech and we need your help! Bring your best problem solving skills to help figure this one out! We’ll be exploring fingerprints, hidden clues only revealed with black light, discover DNA, mystery substances that act in funny ways, and use our best skills to piece together all the clues and solve the mystery!
Splash!
Prepare to get wet as we spend the week discovering the world of water. Explore and experience the science of water like never before. Make your own rain, figure out why oil and water don’t mix, discover how some creatures really CAN walk on water and much more. Through hands-on experiments and exciting demonstrations, you’ll see just how important water is to the Earth and what you can do to protect this most valuable resource.
Star Wars
Let the force guide you straight to a week full of Star Wars fun! Campers will be exploring space, propulsion, simple droid robotics, human senses, and will create their very own Jedi light saber to take home!
Wild Weather
Get blown away by the amazing world of Wild Weather! Your camper will be a mini-meteorologist as we explore temperature, pressure, weather phenomenon, and the technology that helps us predict Mother Nature’s next move!
FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)
Q: How many people lead the camps?
A: Each camp session will be led by two trained instructors.
Q: What will the campers be doing in the camps?
A: Based on the theme chosen, campers will learn some of the science involved in the theme through hands-on activities, fun games and instructor led conversations.
Q: I really want to see some of what my son/daughter makes. Will there be any take-home items that I can see?
A: Yes. Each camp session will have several take-home products that the campers can take back home. Make sure to make room on the fridge or on a shelf!
Q: I signed up my child for camps this week but I forgot about a doctor's appointment. Can I pick him/her up early that day?
A: Yes. If you need to pick up your child during a camp day, let us know ahead of time and we can plan ahead to make sure he/she is ready when you arrive. Even if you signed up for before/after care, you will still be able to drop your child off after 9am or pick him/her up before 4pm.
Q: Can I have a friend or relative pick up my child?
A: Yes. When you sign up your child for camps, you'll be asked to make a security code which we will use to verify pickup. Make sure you give your friend or relative the code if you'd like them to pick your child up. Make sure to keep your code safe however so that there won't be any confusion during pickup.
Q: What is your refund policy?
A: 48 hour notice WITH confirmation from staff.
Q: If there is an incident, who is trained in CPR/First Aid?
A: Our camp director as well as a few instructors are certified in CPR/First Aid.
